Community celebration transforms into meaningful support for Nikki’s Place – a children’s home in Chiang Mai caring for vulnerable and HIV-infected babies.
This children’s home, which currently houses 130 children, specializes in the care of HIV-infected children. Of course, money is needed for the care of the children: housing, food/drink, medical care, nursing staff, teachers, administration, maintenance, energy costs, school costs and what not. In the Netherlands there are regulations and finances for this, unfortunately that is not the case in Thailand. The children’s home therefore receives nothing at all and is completely on its own in this life-saving work.
For the third time we have been able to campaign for Nikki’s Place at a store opening. Because in addition to good offers and great promotions, we also want to be able to mean something on a social level.
Throughout the week of July 7–11, daily lottery draws were conducted by notary Mr. Henkjan Hettema of Jelsma Koelma Notarissen, who volunteered his time to support the cause.
Remarkable Results: €4,000 Raised
In just two weeks, the initiative raised a total of €4,000, a significant amount that will directly support essential needs at Nikki’s Place—from housing and food to schooling and medical care.
Children from the Gemeente Waadhoeke, Gemeente Súdwest-Fryslân, and Gemeente Harlingen still have a chance to participate by submitting their colouring pages to the Harlingen store, where they can win prizes such as a tablet, Bluetooth speaker, or headphones.
The motto of the Nikki’s Friends Foundation is: ‘You can’t save the whole world, but you can save the whole world of a child’ and together with all our customers and relations we have once again been able to make a wonderful contribution to this!
The success of this campaign is a reminder of what can be achieved when local business and community come together.
