Interest in loyalty programs where there is money to be saved has shot up in recent months. Several hundred thousand have signed up, says the MyPOWER manager.
It is quite clear that Norwegian customers have realized that there is money to be saved by participating in various customer programmes, says Lars Erik Viflat, head of Loyalty & CX at POWER and responsible for POWER’s loyalty programme, MyPOWER.
In a survey conducted among 30,000 POWER customers, 43 percent stated that they had signed up to new customer programs in the last six months. Loyalty programs in grocery and electronics are especially attractive.
It probably has something to do with the fact that this is where the most savings are made. We generally spend a lot of money on food and home electronics, and bonus earnings in these industries can generate a good amount of money, says Viflat.
the loyalty program has generated over one million Norwegian customers
Want money and a discount
Since the start of MyPOWER, the loyalty program has generated over one million Norwegian customers in just over a year, and 250,000 of the customers have signed up during the last six months. In total, POWER has distributed more than NOK 325 million to its customers across the Nordics through the loyalty programme.
“We have experienced a big upswing in the number of registrations in recent months, and have had a growth of 250,000 MyPOWER customers since last summer. That, seen in the context of the shopping habits that are now changing and centered around our campaign periods, shows that Norwegians are clearly looking for ways to save money“, says Viflat.
The survey also shows that there is the possibility of exclusive discounts and the earning of a bonus that can be used as a future discount, which is most attractive among consumers.
The best customer programs offer either cashback or earning points that can be used as a discount. If you do a bit of research and combine it with campaigns or other customer benefits such as deposits on electronics, you can get pretty solid discounts when you’re out shopping, he believes.
Has several millions outstanding
Viflat says that around half of POWER’s turnover today comes from MyPOWER customers, and that the loyalty program has struck a chord with customers. MyPOWER gives you the opportunity to save up a bonus of two percent which you can use the next time you shop.
This has become very popular with our customers, and the skepticism many people have about such loyalty programs quickly disappears when they understand that they manage this entirely themselves. We do not require you to receive either newsletters or text messages, explains Viflat.
As of today, Nordic POWER customers have NOK 46 million in outstanding discounts with the electronics chain, and Viflat reminds that the bonus has a duration of two years. He also reminds that many customers have unused gift cards lying around that also have an expiry date.
